I followed the YouTube tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4d1gSsDWTNw and when I attempted to “Check Data and Export” I received error 40306.
Not sure why this happens. Happy to troubleshoot with you.
2022-08-05 at 3:14 am #16947Michael SchwarzMember**UPDATE**
I ran some more test and only had 4 merge fields in the layout and was now able to generate the file.
However, the issue is that the front and back records are not matching up. Rather it merged the 40 test records over the pages, without doing front/back matchup.
2022-08-05 at 6:37 am #16948PatStaffHi Michael
Glad you could solve it.
Still we’d love to improve our product. If here’s a case we can provide better errors or help instructions to the user we’d be happy to do so in a new update.
Could you send us a file that produced the error so we can reproduce it and improve MyDataMerge?
Regards
Pat

2022-08-05 at 10:49 am #16950Michael SchwarzMemberI actually still need help.
as when the merge completed the postcards didn’t get the front name and back info matched up.
rather it just ran through the sample size of 40. Instead of doing front top left / back top right.
Where is the setting to do this?
2022-08-05 at 11:28 am #16951Michael SchwarzMemberAlso, I’d be happy to share the file, how do I get it to you?
2022-08-05 at 11:30 am #16952PatStaffPlease answer the following:
Do you have multiple instances of the postcard on one page (and another page for the back sides) OR do you have ONE postcard on a page and the back side on another page?

2022-08-05 at 11:31 am #16953Michael SchwarzMemberTwo pages in the document (as per the video), with multiple instances of the postcard front and back,
and I started the front in the TOP LEFT corner, and the back I started in the TOP RIGHT corner, so they would match when doing double sided printing.

2022-08-05 at 11:39 am #16955PatStaffThank you.
Is there any piece of data which is either on the front AND back side?

2022-08-05 at 11:41 am #16956Michael SchwarzMemberActually in this test version yes, both first and last names are in the front. Do I need to create a duplicate column in the spreadsheet in order to be able to re-use it?
I have sent the test postcard via email.
2022-08-05 at 12:11 pm #16957PatStaffPlease delete all instances except one (top left) on front and all on back except one (top right).
Make sure that placeholders for front and back are UNIQUE. if you need e.g. “name” both on front and back name it different e.g. “name” on front and “name-1” on back.
You do NOT need to duplicate data columns, but you might need to setup “name-1” manually in MyDataMerge to link with the right data column.
Once done group everything and duplicate them in the correct order you need. Front left to right, rear right to left.
Then re-import it which will give you a new option in export > multiple records > layout provided.
Check that and then you’re set according the video
We need to clarify this in the docs

Next I’m going to try it on a different setup that I run quite frequently.
If I run into any further issues I’ll reach out again.
