I am trying to upload an indesign file and before it even lets me import it, it will give me an error message that reads: “An unknown error occured.” without an error code. last time this happened I was able to save a “newer” version of the same indesign file but that is no longer working. is there something else that I can do to problem solve?

Thank you for getting in touch with us.
Please first try to restart your machine completely without having the checkbox selected in the macOS shutdown dialog.
If that doesn’t solve it, open your document, go to the fonts panel and check if there are any auto-activated fonts from adobe cloud used. Then go to Adobe cloud App > fonts and activated each font there manually to make sure the font is instantly provided when opening the document (and doesn’t get auto activated on document load).
Alternatively you could also open the original file and keep it open while dropping it into MyDataMerge.
There is a known bug with auto font activation which you can solve/workaround with one of the two above mentioned methods.
If that doesn’t solve it please let me know it.

Thanks

Go to indesign preferences > File handling tab and deactivate “Auto activate Adobe Fonts”. Then restart InDesign.
Once done drop the document again in MyDataMerge and let me know what it tells you.
If it says it is missing some fonts then we can solve it easily.
