Hello guys,
We have successfully used this wonderful program for over a year. We store the template file, excel file and the MDM file all in a folder on google drive.
This allows the excel file to be changed incrementally by my team. The mdm file / indesign file hardly ever get altered.
We have about 10 different mdm files each in their own folders with 10 different corresponding idd and excel files.
In the last week one of the folders throws up the error ‘an error occurred while trying to track a file path’ when trying to open MDM.
All the others work perfectly on drive… has something become corrupt?
Can someone assist?
Thank you,
J

Does this error appear for all files? Or just one?
What happens if you copy the mdmd file to the Desktop and open it from there?
Please then try to open it again from server. Right after the error appears go to MyDataMerge Menu > Help > Send Feedback
Enter the required data and tick the checkbox (important) so we receive logfiles. Then we can have a look.

Unfortunately no, moving it to desktop has no effect, I tried this the first time round.
I’ll send over the logs now.. loading the mdmd file from google drive.

This is nothing MyDataMerge does but it can happen due file sync in Google Drive – although it happens very rarely.hope you have an older backup).
Move the LAYOUT file out of position (in a subfolder or somewhere else). Then open the project again – if we’re lucky and the file isn’t corrupted MyDataMerge will ask where the file is and “repair” the broken link.

Sorry it took so long, the team member who’s laptop wasn’t working was on annual leave.
I’m afraid it doesn’t work.
What’s strange that it works on my laptop M1 MBP but doesn’t on hers. As I say this is the only file out of 8-10 that doesn’t work on hers.
Do I need to look for a backup .. not sure I have one :(
