What do you want to be generated in the end?

An important thing for working with MyDataMerge is to understand how to prepare your layout for different needs.

• Export one record per layout (layout page count doesn’t matter)
• Export multiple records per page with existing layout (layout page count doesn’t matter)
• Export multiple records per page – layout has to be generated (one page layout required)
• Export all records in one text frame (called inline merge, one page layout required)

Merge text, image, QR-Code

If you just want to merge text data „like it is“ from your datasource to your layout you should have a look at the autolink feature.
Otherwise, you have to know about different kinds of placeholders and how to use them properly. Every placeholder must follow some easy rules, depending on what you want to do with them:

• Replace with text
• Replace with image
• Replace with QR-Code
