Preview

The preview is available both in the editor and the placeholder list (only for valid items).

1. Toggle preview

With the eye icon you can show or hide the preview.

2. Preview

The preview itself will either show text content, images or a QR-Code. You can change the number on the top right to see a preview for other data records.
Note: Some QR-Codes might take a little to be shown because they are directly generated in Adobe® InDesign®.
Note: QR-Code previews are by default in the target color. If that color is hard to see on the background you can enable contrast white in the preferences > editor.

Process chain active?
If you have an active process chain with multiple setups, the preview will always show the final result – that value will used for the data merge. If you have more complex setups, its good to know, which setup was finally used to create the value. To output the setups name, activate the corresponding option in the preferences.

Important note: The preview does NOT show applied styles.

3. Options

Depending on what’s shown in the preview, there are different options available.

Image / QR-Code

• Show image: Will toggle between image and the image path
• Grant access: Necessary to allow  to access an image folder
• Show log: Only shown on error
• Consider export settings (see below)

Text

• Show log: Only shown on error
• Consider export settings (see below)

Consider export settings

• Off: Data record 1 will output the first record of the imported database.
• ON: Data record 1 will output the first record after all filters and sorting of your export settings have been applied.
