Good morning, I’m new to the MyDataMerge plug-in and had an interesting thing happen to me today. When I have a $0 record in my csv file, it will not merge. If I change that to $1 or any other $#, the merge is successful.
Any ideas on how to solve for this?

And welcome aboard.
This is interesting. Could you please send a Demo data csv file to firstname.lastname@example.org? You can delete any other record that is not relevant and rename crucial/private data. Before sending please try if the behaviour is still the same with the reduced file.

thank you for sending the files. We can reproduce it here and have an explanation but not the solution (yet). MyDataMerge partially uses InDesigns GREP functionality to inject data. In GREP, $0 is a special character with its own functionality so this breaks here.
We will figure out a solution and get back to you.

An update for you:
We have implemented a fix to solve this which will be released with the next update.
Until then you might do the follwing: do a mass replace of $ to a generic string e.g. XYZ in your csv
Setup the project as you’ve done before, then go to export > extras > grep text.
Add a new rule, search for XYZ and replace it with $. This will be applied right after the merge.

Thanks for looking into this so quickly. I will keep my eye on the update. In the meantime, I tried the quick solve and unfortunately it’s still not working. I tried both XVZ0 and XYZ 0 in the data file. I first thought the no space was causing it. Any thoughts?2023-01-17 at 8:36 pm #18347PatStaff
i apologize. I didn’t check it before. Grep replacements rely on the same technology and therefor are affected by the same issue. We already have fixed it in the new version and grep replacements then work again (although if you then don’t need them).
Good News is that we will release it this week. I will let you know it here once it’s released.
