I get this error…
“MyDataMerge couldn’t connect placeholders with datafields.”
when I try to import data into a table cell even though I get green checkmarks the export fails.
Is it not possible to import data into table cells?
Thanks,
Steve

You CAN merge into a table cell, however, MyDataMerge currently CANNOT create new rows.
This feature is on the roadmap (check here: https://mydatamerge.com/roadmap/)Please check if there’s a hyperlink on the placeholder. This is a common issue cause InDesign doesn’t allow a hyperlink to be a data merge tag (unfortunately).

Merging in cells currently is not supported. The merge will work (as long as it is no hyperlink) but the merged tag might be outside of the table.
This will be adressed when we add support for tables. Currently you might do an inline merge:- Build a “table row” look alike (no real table) and group it.
- Paste it into a text frame once (as anchored element). Make sure you have one page only and only one textframe on that page.
- Then choose inline merge in export multiple records per page
- You can copy this textframe wherever you need it to with the complete content in it
This way MyDataMerge will repeat this row for every data record.

2019-11-18 at 6:02 pm #10839briggsCustomerOne last thing for now…
What is defining the space that is put after each chunk of info? I would like to have control over this.

I have found that this is controlled by InDesign in the “anchored object settings”.
2019-11-19 at 2:52 pm #10845briggsCustomerI would like to correct my statement above for anyone looking to achieve this workflow.
Using an empty text frame to define the space between each record has given much better results rather than using object anchor settings!
