In 9 out of 10 cases this is because you have automatic font download from adobe cloud active.Go to InDesign preferences > file handling and deactivate the option “Automatically activate Adobe Cloud fonts”.Then MyDataMerges import should tell you which fonts you need and what to do. Then enable these fonts in the cloud manually. In the next update we will have a better onboarding process included for this issue. It will be released in the next few weeks.

2022-11-09 at 7:40 pm #17484Braelynn HoffmannMemberokay, i did that. thank you
2022-11-09 at 7:50 pm #17485PatStaffThank you. I just checked it. The error message provided says clearly that a font family isn’t available.
Please recheck if you did uncheck the auto load fonts option in InDesigns preferences.
Then quit InDesign. Restart it.
Open your layout document manually in InDesign. It should ask you for fonts. Can you confirm this?

2022-11-09 at 8:02 pm #17487PatStaffOpen your fonts management menu in indesign with your document opened. Does it say cloud next to one of the fonts in the list?

2022-11-09 at 8:07 pm #17488PatStaffAdditionally please answer my previous question… can you confirm that InDesign wants to load fonts when opening the document manually?

2022-11-09 at 8:37 pm #17489Braelynn HoffmannMemberwhen i initially opened it yes it wanted to load the fonts, then i redownloaded the specific font that they wanted onto my computer and it has not asked whenever i restart it
2022-11-09 at 9:24 pm #17490PatStaffBy allowing the font download initially you basically allow cloud font usage all time.
Check the indesign preferences again if the auto download fonts option became active again. Then:
Uncheck it. Restart Indesign.
Open your layout. A font dialog should pop up. Do NOT activate these fonts from the cloud. Instead write the names down then close the document.
Open your Adobe Cloud App and goto Fonts. This will open the fonts website by Adobe. Find the fonts you wrote down and activate them there. This will keep them active avoiding automatic downloading.
Reopen your document once again. No font dialog should pop up if you activated all required ones in Adobe fonts.
Then no error should pop up anymore and everything should work fine.
Unless Adobe doesn’t let us developers check the loaded state of cloud fonts this will remain an issue which can be bypassed by not using automatic cloud font activation.
