Hello!
I have been trying to export files, and I have extended the time limit on Adobe and Excel to try and avoid this. It will get to 100% of the export and then just sit there for a while no matter how long I extend the time limit. Can anyone help on this?
This is what it says and I have tried all threeCommunication with Adobe® InDesign® timed out. A timeout happens if a response takes longer than 800 seconds.Possible solutions:- Try again and watch for other errors popping up.
- Restart Adobe® InDesign® and try again.
- You may raise the timeout limit in the preferences and try again.

And welcome aboard.
Usually the standard limit is way enough for InDesign to respond.
So in your case we need to find out why either InDesign gets stuck or needs so long to perform a task.
To help clarify this please answer these questions:
- If the timeout appears in MyDataMerge is InDesign still responsive – does it react or is it frozen?
- How many records do you export?
- Which file format(s) do you export to?
- Do you export in one file or many?
- Do you use styling or grep settings?
- If 5. Is yes do you use them extensively?
- Please go to MyDataMerge Menu > help > Diagnostics and copy the details there over here
- Did you restart your machine (WITHOUT the checkbox in the shutdown dialog) – sometimes caches run full in macOS which slows down a lot and a clean restart clears them.
- If you export one file only, what’s the resulting file size?
This should give a starting point.
