Hi
Looking at whether to purchase MyDataMerge. One of the specific problems I have is an InDesign data merge doc with over 270 data placeholders. One continual issue that pops up every now and then is the “There is at least one data placeholder that cannot be found in the data source…” message. It takes about 3-4 hours then to identify if this is the case because there is no way of easily identifying which data placeholders aren’t in the source file. Adobe could of course fix this with about 10 mins of developer time.
Question: would MyDataMerge allow me to more easily do this (compare data placeholders in InDesign doc vs. CSV file I’d like to merge)?
Cheers!

yes, MyDataMerge can handle that. These are the things MyDataMerge can do for you:
- If your placeholders match your data titles, MyDataMerge can automatically link them
- If some data is missing, MyDataMerge will tell you exactly which placeholder and which data row. If you use Excel as datasource it will also open the file and select the cell
- MyDataMerge let’s you add alternative configurations to handle cases like that. If a data cell is empty you may: 1. Inject other content or 2. Delete the line/placeholder/frame 3. Leave it empty …
- and more…
We have a complete free version (limited though) which should be enough to test it :)
