    I’m receiving following error (404506): One or more placeholders are invalid. Placeholders must be visible and may not exist in overset text.

    I have checked the layout and all of the placeholders are visible. Additionally, using Preflight in Indesign, there are no errors shown. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

    Hi there

    This usually is not producing any issues. So to go forwarding here do the following:

    Right after the issue appears, send us Feedback:

    • Go to Menu > Help > Send Feedback
    • Enter a name, email and some text
    • Tick the checkbox to send us the log files (important!)

    Then we can have a look.

    please make sure all placeholders are on a page (blue bordered area in the picture) and NOT on the pasteboard outside:

    Hi Pat–perhaps I’m overlooking something, but I cannot find a placeholder outside of the page. I was the one who put the placeholders in the document, so I’m fairly confident all of them are on the visible area. I can try deleting all of the content outside of the page, but can you tell on your end where the offending text might be?

    Thanks, Pat. Understood on the limitations of the free version–just trying to prove it out before purchasing. I cleaned the file and still am getting the same error. I’ll also note that I count 12 placeholders (all text) in the file. I just sent the cleaned version of the file to the support@ email address. Maybe I’m missing something obvious, but I cannot figure out what might be causing the error at this  point. For what it’s worth, I’m running Indesign 18.0.

    Hi Pat–thanks for your persistence on this! That did the trick. Am I right to assume there’s not a workaround to have a placeholder on a curved path like that?

    Thank you and welcome aboard. I just added a ticket for the next version that at least the error message should cover the “path” scenario so that its easier to understand.
