    Good day,

Is it possible to export in different files, based on a group data in the datasource?

For example. Your sample files with the business cards. Add a column with different departments, for example Sales, Production, Support etc.

I want to export all the names grouped on department. So a separated file for each department. A separate file for Sales, Production, Support etc.

I know you can do this with filter the records and do every “department” separate.
But I have files with a couple of hundred different “groups”, so that’s not an option to do this manually.

    <hr />

An other option could be, an separation page after an group in the same file.
But I think that is more difficult to manage.

Thanks you for your response in advance.

    Best Regards Martijn

    Hi Martijn

To make sure i understood your usecase:

You have one database you have a colum “group” with different values e.g. “sales”. “sales” can have hundreds of records. You have one layout file thats valid for every record. You want to have all “sales” in a separate file (e.g. 108 times the layout multiplied in ONE file only for the sales records), a separate file for every group?

    Am i getting it right?

    Dear Pat,

    Yes you have it right.

One colom “group” with different values. It can be hundreds of values.

All the records of one group in one export file.
So I get a PDF/Print file for each group.

    Regards

    Martijn

    Hi Martijn

The export rules cannot be modified in the way you need it. We discussed possible (future) mechanics to implement this. Ranging from adding “Document breaks” after specific conditions (like – make new document if value in column A changes) up to dynamic filters+batch processing (process multiple times for a column until value changes)

But right now the best we have is the filter you already mentioned.

    Hi Pat,

    Thank you for the response.

Maybe also an option, to add a separation page between the “Groups” instead new files.

    Regards,

    Martijn
