Hello, I’ve just purchased mydatamerge and was hoping to be able to merge text from an Excel into an inDesign template thats set up to use tables. Is that possible? I’ve tried it but the data is going into the text frame that the table is in and pushing the table down. I just read in the help topics that inline merging only works if there’s just one text box on the page, is that right?

Ideally I’m looking for a workflow where I can merge data into table cells and placeholder frames on the same page.

    Hi Harry

Does your layout contain a table per record? And the table has a fixed number of lines and always the same amount of content per record? Then this *might* work.

Having dynamic tables that can grow or shrink is a long requested feature but one we didn’t build yet (cause it requires to rework the way we handle data completely).

In some cases its possible to change to a layout that looks like a table but technically is NOT a table but rather a good formatted block of text with TABS, underlines etc. But without visually seeing your usecase i cannot support here.

Hi Pat, thanks for your quick response. Unfortunately my layout contains a mixture of placeholders and tables as well as different numbers of lines per record. I’d love to hear if/when that feature is added.

    Best,

    Harry
