Firstly, can I say, I have just completed a large data merge with MyDataMerge (2600 data fields across 20 pages). The data merge had text, images, font styles and object styles – something that I couldn’t have achieved without MyDataMerge – so thank you for a great piece of software.
However, I ran into a problem with the editing or updating the import settings for an individual placeholder. Even though I split the InDesign file into individual pages, some of the MyDataMerge files still had 392 data fields. So if I needed to edit one of the placeholders in MyDataMerge, I had to scroll down a long list to find the field I needed – which took quite a while (there doesn’t seem to be a reason for the ordering of the placeholder list).
If the placeholder list could be sorted alphabetically (or some other custom allowed sorting), then I would have been able to find the field I wanted in an instant.
I think it would be a great addition to the software.
This is a great idea and i have added it onto our internal Roadmap. I’d like to see that too.
Once its in the public on (https://mydatamerge.com/roadmap) I’ll notify you here (subscribe to this thread).

They are sorted by ID which means the order you added them.

Good news! This feature will be implemented in the next update as live search filter (start typing, list filters).
Thank you for the suggestion. It is planned to publish this update in November.
Sorting itself will be moved to next year.
