    Hi,

I ‘ve got a lot of support from your dev. team. That is great for my job to merge thousands of records for publishing.

However, I usually have a bunch of placeholders to deal with for “Allow empty value”. Every time I import a set of data the setting of “Allow empty value” switches will be set to default, that is disabled. It takes me a lot of time to enable them one by one.

So I just think if there is a global setting to enable ALL placeholders to be “Allow empty value” or other settings, it will be very helpful.

Another thinking is to EXPORT all settings to a TEXT file, say JSON format or XML format. Thus we can just modify something for a new project to save a lot of mouse clicks. With the text-based configuration, I even can change the “Allow empty value” setting in the config file. This also saves times.

    Hi Mitch

    Thank you for your suggestions!

We already have a “Bulk edit” feature on our future feature list. So it will be implemented somewhere in future depending on other features affecting more or less people.

Exporting a configuration isn’t very useful as configuration of a placeholder is highly dynamic based on the kind of placeholder (text, image, qrcode…) and other variables and couldn’t be imported if one of these basic things changes (which would lead to a lot of confusion)

What makes me wondering is the sentence:

Every time I import a set of data the setting of “Allow empty value” switches will be set to default, that is disabled.

Could you specify this a little bit more please?

    Regards

When I already have a set of placeholders with “Allow empty value” enabled, I get a few contents in the excel file modified, say I add a column in the excel file, then import. I’ll see a new placeholder not linked. If I press the “Autolink” then the new placeholder will be auto-linked BUT all settings for the “Allow empty value” will be all gone! I have to re-enable all “Allow empty value” settings one by one to make it work. It may or not may be a bug. You may remember I’ve mentioned about this in the previous support request. However, this is really annoying during my editing works.

Also I have very similar pattern of excel-indd pairs but different page styles. So I wish I can copy-n-paste the setting instead of mouse-click all the way through the placeholders. I know this may not be the feature that most people have to use that in the daily job. Anyway, just an idea for your reference.

    Hi Mitch

    Thank you for the feedback.

This is exactly how it’s intended to be. Each new placeholder starts with the default configuration.

I understand it if you need another default configuration. I’ll pass that to our “to be discussed” list. Honestly I do not want to create high hopes for a realization as it seems to be a very specific feature.

I think you’ll be also happy once bulk editing is available.

Agree. Bulk editing is good for me.
